The Hive
At Crabtree Infants' and Crabtree Junior, we have a very special room called 'The Hive'. This is where any child, or adult, can go for some quiet time or just to talk. It is a space dedicated to supporting mental health and wellbeing. Mrs Wheeler, Junior Learning Mentor and Mental Health Lead, and Mrs Kendall, Infant Mental Health Lead, are always on hand to listen and support anyone who needs them.
Sometimes, a child just needs to talk about something which is on their mind. It might be a situation at home or a friendship issue at school. Whatever the problem, it is always good to talk and this special room is the perfect place to go.
Frosty, the big cuddly dog, is great at sitting with anyone who just needs time to be alone.
As a school, we have regular meetings and training to discuss all the ways in which we can support children and their families. Miss Simmons, Head, has carried out her own research into the positive impact of our mental health support which is published in 'Great Expectations Volume 2' , a book to support schools across Hertfordshire.
We are very proud of our mental health and wellbeing provision and are always striving to learn more.
